# Notices and Attribution ## JMdict / KANJIDIC2 (EDRDG) This data package uses the JMdict and KANJIDIC2 dictionary files. These files are the property of the **Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group** (EDRDG), and are used in conformance with the Group's licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). See https://www.edrdg.org/edrdg/licence.html The JMdict/KANJIDIC2-derived content in this package has been modified: the XML sources are restructured into SQLite, example sentences are removed, and derived layers (Japanese definitions, Chinese gloss translations, kanji variant/contrast/synonym/transitivity notes in Chinese and English, English→Japanese word-choice cards, frequency rankings, Chinese kanji glosses) have been added by Y1Z with LLM assistance, using the upstream gloss text as input. These derived layers are © Y1Z and are licensed under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 terms. ## Japanese Wiktionary Part of the Japanese definitions (`jpn_defs`, `source = "wiktionary"`) come from the **Japanese-language Wiktionary** (CC BY-SA), extracted via the Wiktextract project at kaikki.org. © Wiktionary contributors. ## KanjiVG Stroke-order data (`kanji_strokes`) comes from **KanjiVG**, © Ulrich Apel, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0. https://kanjivg.tagaini.net/ The SVG sources have been converted to a stroke-path table. ## JLPT level estimates `vocab_jlpt` derives from Jonathan Waller's JLPT Resources (CC BY, tanos.co.uk), as curated by the stephenmk/yomitan-jlpt-vocab project (CC BY-SA 4.0). The JLPT has published no official vocabulary lists since 2010 — **all N1–N5 labels are community estimates, not official data.** ## Trademark "Tomoshi" and the Tomoshi logo are brand identifiers of the Tomoshi project (Y1Z) and are not covered by any of the licenses above.
